1. Introduction

Letakof is a cross-platform networking application developed and published by Lekavot Limited. This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use the Letakof application.

Letakof is designed to help users manage network configurations and establish connections to servers and services of their choice. It is a software application and does not, by itself, provide a VPN subscription or operate a network of VPN servers for its users.

We respect the privacy of our users and aim to limit the processing of personal information to what is necessary for the functionality of the application.

2. Information we collect

Letakof is designed to process network configuration data locally on your device. We do not intentionally collect your browsing history, the contents of your network communications, or the destinations of your internet traffic. Network connections are established according to the configurations and services selected by the user.

Configuration data may include:

  • server addresses;
  • connection parameters;
  • authentication credentials;
  • subscription URLs;
  • network protocol settings;
  • application preferences; and
  • the names of Wi-Fi networks you add for automatic connection scenarios.

Such information is stored locally on your device to enable the application to function. We do not use network traffic information for advertising, profiling or data brokerage.

The current version of Letakof does not include analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services, and it does not send usage statistics to Lekavot Limited.

The application may ask for the following device permissions:

  • Camera, to scan a subscription QR code. The image is not saved and is not transmitted.
  • Location (while using the app), to read the name of the current Wi-Fi network for automatic connection scenarios. Your location is not stored and is not transmitted.

The information processed by third-party servers or subscription providers is addressed separately in this Privacy Policy.

3. Network connections and third-party services

Letakof allows users to connect to servers and services operated by third parties. These services are independent of Lekavot Limited unless expressly identified otherwise.

When you connect to an external server or import a remote configuration, the relevant provider may receive technical information required to establish and maintain the connection. Depending on the service and protocol, this information may include:

  • your IP address;
  • connection timestamps;
  • authentication information;
  • network traffic metadata; and
  • information required to retrieve or validate a subscription.

When Letakof retrieves a subscription from a provider you have added, it sends a request to that provider's address. By default the request includes the application's name and version, and device information: an application-specific device identifier (HWID), the device model, and the operating system name and version. Some providers use these details to limit the number of devices per subscription. The HWID is derived from a device identifier through a one-way hash, and the underlying system identifier is not sent. You can turn this off in the application's settings under the subscription options, although some providers may then refuse the subscription.

Letakof may also make the following requests, which are visible to the servers that receive them (including your IP address):

  • connection tests to a test address. By default this is a Google-operated address, and you can choose another in the settings;
  • downloads of routing data and rule lists from the hosts named in the application or in your subscription profile (by default, public repositories hosted on GitHub); and
  • downloads of logos and icons from addresses specified by your subscription provider.

The macOS version distributed outside the App Store may check for application updates by contacting the server that hosts the update feed.

The processing of such information is governed by the practices and privacy policies of the relevant service providers. Lekavot Limited does not control the privacy practices of independently operated servers and services. Users are responsible for reviewing the privacy practices of services they choose to connect to.

4. Application configuration and local storage

Letakof stores application settings, imported configurations and connection preferences locally on your device. These settings are used to provide the functionality requested by the user. Locally stored information includes subscription details and downloaded profiles, server configurations, connection settings and application preferences.

The application also stores a small number of items in the system Keychain: the application-specific device identifier described above and, if you enable local network sharing, the password generated for it. On iOS, Keychain items can remain on the device after the application is uninstalled and reinstalled. This is what allows the device identifier to stay the same, so that a provider does not treat a reinstalled application as a new device.

You can remove a subscription, together with its stored profile, through the application's management functions. Uninstalling Letakof generally removes data stored within the application's local storage, subject to the operating system's backup and retention mechanisms. Some information may remain in device backups or other storage locations managed by the operating system.

We recommend protecting your device with appropriate security measures, particularly when storing configurations containing authentication credentials.

5. Third-party integrations

Letakof supports connections to third-party subscription management systems and external service providers. When you choose to use such functionality, the application may communicate with the relevant provider to:

  • retrieve subscription information;
  • validate access to a service;
  • obtain or update configurations;
  • perform actions requested by the user; and
  • access functionality made available by the selected provider.

Information transmitted to a third-party provider may be processed according to that provider's privacy policy. Lekavot Limited does not automatically receive or control information held by independent subscription providers.

Any additional processing performed directly by Lekavot Limited will be disclosed in this Privacy Policy where applicable. Users should review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party services they choose to use with Letakof.

6. Purchases

The current version of Letakof does not offer purchases within the application. Subscriptions to third-party services are arranged with those providers directly, and Lekavot Limited does not process payments for them.

Certain application features may in future be made available through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Purchases made through the App Store are processed by Apple in accordance with Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices, and Lekavot Limited does not receive your complete payment card details from Apple. If purchases are introduced, purchase-related information may be processed to:

  • verify transactions;
  • restore purchased features;
  • provide access to purchased functionality; and
  • prevent unauthorised use of purchases.

The exact information processed will depend on the purchase functionality implemented in the application, and this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. For additional information about Apple's processing of personal information, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Network traffic and privacy

Letakof processes network traffic as necessary to establish and maintain connections selected by the user. We do not sell network traffic data. We do not use the contents of network communications for advertising, behavioural profiling or marketing. We do not disclose network traffic data to data brokers or advertising networks.

The operators of servers selected by users may have access to certain connection information depending on the configuration, protocol and service used. The privacy and security of a connection may therefore depend on the third-party service selected by the user.

Letakof does not guarantee anonymity or complete protection against tracking. Users should select service providers they trust and review the applicable privacy practices before connecting.

8. Data retention and deletion

Configuration data and application preferences stored locally remain on your device until they are removed through the application or applicable operating system functions.

Where Lekavot Limited processes information relating to purchases, support requests or other optional services, retention will depend on the purpose of processing and applicable legal requirements. If you contact us, we keep your message for as long as needed to deal with it.

Users may contact us regarding privacy-related requests, including requests for access to or deletion of personal information held by Lekavot Limited. Privacy requests may be submitted to [email protected].

Please note that Lekavot Limited cannot delete information held independently by third-party providers. For information processed by such providers, users should contact the relevant provider directly.

9. Children's privacy

Letakof is a general-purpose networking utility and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling purposes.

If you believe that personal information relating to a child has been provided to us inappropriately, please contact [email protected]. We will review the request and take appropriate action where required.

10. Security

We aim to protect information processed by Letakof through appropriate technical and organisational measures. However, no software application or method of electronic communication can guarantee absolute security.

Users should exercise care when importing configurations or connecting to servers operated by unknown third parties. Users should also take appropriate measures to protect their devices, authentication credentials and subscription information.

11. International data processing

Letakof may allow users to connect to servers and services located in different countries. When users select third-party services, information associated with those connections may be processed in the countries where the relevant services operate. Such processing is determined by the selected service provider and its infrastructure.

Lekavot Limited does not control the geographical location or data processing practices of independent third-party servers. Where Lekavot Limited itself processes personal information internationally, applicable data protection requirements will be observed.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and applicable data protection laws, you may have rights relating to your personal information. These may include the right to:

  • request access to personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of personal information;
  • object to certain processing activities;
  • request restriction of processing; and
  • request data portability where applicable.

The availability and scope of these rights depend on the applicable law and the circumstances of processing.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the application, its functionality or applicable legal requirements. The current version will be published at https://lekavot.co.uk/letakof/privacy.

The effective date at the beginning of this document will be updated when changes are made. We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
